So I am a nervous flyer. I wasn't really sure why until my cousin who is a flight attendant said to me, "it's just because you are not in control, Kimber."
And yup…she nailed it.
I do admit to be a little bit of a "control freak" and if I could fly the plane myself, those bumps probably wouldn't even bother me.
But another contributing factor to whether I am a "freak" or not on a flight is the Captain.
Recently I was flying back from a company event and I realized how important the role of the Captain is to me relaxing and knowing that I will arrive at my destination A-okay.
On this flight the Captain came on several times to give us information such as landmarks, weather and general stuff.
But what was especially great about him is that he would make sure when we were facing turbulence ahead, he would let us know. The very second I knew that it may get a little bumpy, I relaxed and knew it was to be expected and not to worry about it.
I have been on dozens of flights that were very bumpy and the pilots said nothing and we did a near "touch and go" one time into Minnesota without the pilot even saying anything to us (seriously thought we was done for that time).
I realized that in our network marketing business it is very important it is to let your new associates know that they are going to reach their destination safely and in perfect time (timing) but there may be a few obstacles ahead that they face.
Now you don't want to be negative and dramatic but if you set them up with tools and strategies that help them navigate those bumps, you will not only gain their trust but you will probably help to speed up their "learning curve."
Many people get started in our profession by someone who doesn't complete the entire picture of what it takes to create success and that it does take hard work and self development. Don't be the one that tells them they can make six figures in 30 days, PLEASE!!!!!!!!!
Set your associate up for success by taking them through your company's training system and plugging them into your team and other Upline leadership. And don't forget that RSS is a "safe place" for generic training that will help them build belief!
Happy Flying,
